Monterey set the tone and Europe answered within days. Porsche's one-off Flachbau RS, Czinger's 30-car Spyder, Lanzante's three-seat 95-59 and RUF's Ehra all arrived inside the same 48 hours, every one of them capped before it is built. Toyota went further with the GR GT: 200 to 250 cars for the US and a vetting process instead of a waiting list. The money followed the same logic, 18.7 million dollars for a Corvette Grand Sport and 17.8 for a Daytona SP3 with 227 miles on the clock. Behind all of it the autumn calendar filled in: Klausen back after 13 years, Nuvolari, Sanremo Storico, Ascona, Cividale-Castelmonte. 20 stories from the week, curated for drivers who celebrate the car rather than merely own it.

690 HP. 1 Car. 3 Years. Flachbau RS.

Porsche's Sonderwunsch department revealed a one-off road-legal 911 called the Flachbau RS at Monterey on 14 August 2026. It turns a 2018 991.2 GT2 RS Weissach into a modern slantnose homage to the 935/78 Moby Dick.

The 3.8-litre twin-turbo flat-six stays untouched at 690 hp and 750 Nm through a seven-speed PDK, rear-wheel drive only. Deleting the PCM, audio, carpets and sound deadening cut another 31.6 kg from a car that was already the lightest GT2 RS spec. The manually adjustable three-position rear wing sits about 50 mm higher than standard and makes 554 kg of rear-axle downforce at 340 km/h in its High Downforce setting. Three years of work by Sonderwunsch, Style Porsche, Weissach, Porsche Motorsport and Manthey included three test cars, crash and airbag validation, wind-tunnel runs and 50 laps of the Nordschleife.

Porsche is turning Sonderwunsch into a margin business while volume sales are soft, and a single commission now gets full factory crash and Nürburgring validation. That is a very different proposition from an aftermarket widebody, and a quiet test of appetite for a series version.

Czinger pulled the roof off its 3D-printed hypercar at The Quail on 14 August 2026 and capped the 21C Spyder at 30 cars worldwide. That is fewer than the 80 hardtops already sold, at 2.75 million dollars before options.

The 2.88-litre twin-turbo flat-plane V8 makes 750 hp on its own and works with three electric motors for 1,250 hp and 937 Nm, driving all four wheels through a seven-speed single-clutch transaxle. Zero to 100 km/h takes 1.9 seconds, the quarter mile 8.7 seconds, top speed 330 km/h. Dry weight is 1,620 kg, and roofless the car still generates 1,482 kg of downforce at 240 km/h. It also debuts BrakeNode, a printed part merging upright, caliper and hydraulic passages into one piece: 0.7 kg less unsprung mass per corner, 30 percent stiffer, up to 15 percent shorter stopping distances.

Czinger has always argued that AI-designed printed structures beat conventionally engineered ones, and BrakeNode is the first time that shows up in something you feel through the pedal. There is no storage for the roof panel, so open-top means committing before you leave the garage.

6.4 KM. 408 M Up. Oct 4. Castelmonte.

The 49th Cividale-Castelmonte hillclimb closes the northern half of the Italian mountain championship on 2 to 4 October 2026, in the Julian Prealps of Friuli. Cars run the closed provincial road from Cividale del Friuli up to the Castelmonte sanctuary twice, with both times added together.

The course starts at Carraria in Cividale and finishes at Castelmonte in the municipality of Prepotto after 6,395 metres, gaining 408 metres for an average gradient of 6.4 percent and topping out at 618 metres. The 2026 edition counts for the Super CIVM and CIVM Nord final, the IRS Cup, the Friuli Venezia Giulia series and the Slovenian championship, run by Scuderia Red White. Entries are capped at 250 and regularly run past 200: 243 cars were entered in 2024, of which 184 finished. Federico Liber won that year in a Gloria C8P with a combined 7:21.85 over the two runs, his sixth Castelmonte victory.

Outside race weekend the road up to Castelmonte is an open, lightly trafficked provincial road about 9 km from Cividale del Friuli, a UNESCO Longobard town. First weekend of October it becomes a closed-road stage with historics and modern prototypes running side by side, and free paddock access down in town.

One Of 5. Corvette Record. $18.7M.
Source · RM Sotheby's

A 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport sold for 18,705,000 dollars at RM Sotheby's Monterey on 15 August 2026, a world record for any Corvette. It is chassis 003, one of only five Grand Sports built and the first of three coupes.

The pre-sale estimate was 11 to 13 million dollars, so the result landed 44 percent above the top end. The previous Corvette record was 7,705,000 dollars, meaning the marque benchmark more than doubled in a single lot. Zora Arkus-Duntov's lightweight racer weighs roughly 860 kg against 1,450 kg for a standard 1963 Corvette, and now runs a period-correct 377 cubic inch V8 on four Weber 58 DCOE carburettors, estimated at over 600 hp. Chassis 003 finished second in class at the 1964 Sebring 12 Hours with A.J. Foyt and John Cannon driving, and wears that Sebring livery today.

Five cars exist, rarer than a 250 GTO or a Daytona Coupe, and the market has finally priced American racing provenance on the same shelf as Maranello and Modena. Monterey 2026 crossed roughly 500 million dollars in total, and blue-chip race cars with unbroken history did the heavy lifting.

510 PS. 100 Cars. The Ring Turns 100.

Porsche revealed the 911 GT3 100 Jahre Nurburgring on 14 August 2026, a market edition capped at exactly 100 cars and sold in Germany only. The 4.0-litre naturally aspirated flat-six stays at 375 kW (510 PS) and 450 Nm, with a choice of seven-speed PDK or a six-speed manual.

Orders open in September 2026 and deliveries follow in 2027, the year the Nordschleife turns 100. An optional colour-matched Manthey Kit makes 540 kg of downforce at 285 km/h and has lapped the Nordschleife in 6:50.853, set by reigning DTM champion Ayhancan Guven. Porsche presented the car to the public at the Carrera Cup Deutschland meeting at the Ring on 15 and 16 August, deliberately skipping Monterey the same weekend. Details include White or GT Silver paint with a wrapped green nose, 20/21-inch forged wheels in California Gold, a green roll cage and a customisable start number from 0 to 999.

Porsche is monetising heritage while volume sales stay soft. A Germany-only allocation of 100 cars is a loyalty play aimed at the buyers who already own the Ring story, not a global product launch.

Lanzante showed its three-seat McLaren F1 tribute, the 95-59, in production form at The Quail on 14 August 2026 and confirmed a new high-downforce aero package. The reworked 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 makes 850 hp and 880 Nm, up from 740 hp in the McLaren 750S donor car.

Only 59 cars will be built, priced from 1,020,000 pounds before taxes, with a target weight under 1,250 kg and a central driving position. The name ties Lanzante's 1995 Le Mans overall win with the number 59 McLaren F1 GTR to a modern road car, and the run length matches that race number. The carbon body, three-seat cabin and aero are new rather than a bolt-on kit, which puts the 95-59 in full coachbuilt territory. The Quail car added a fixed high-mounted rear wing with an integrated roof intake, new centre-lock wheels and the LM30 lightweight package; customer production starts in early 2027.

The three-seat layout has been commercially untouchable since the McLaren F1. Lanzante is betting that provenance, not specification, is what a seven-figure buyer is actually paying for.

21.5 KM. 136 Corners. Klausen Is Back.

Switzerland's Klausenrennen returns on 25 to 27 September 2026 after 13 years, running pre-1949 race cars up the original 21.5 km course from Linthal to the 1,948 m Klausen Pass. The climb gains 1,260 m through 136 corners with gradients up to 10.5 percent.

Around 250 cars plus 150 motorcycles, sidecars and three-wheelers built up to 1949 are eligible, and this is the first running since the last memorial event in 2013. From 1922 to 1934 the Klausenrennen was considered Europe's hardest mountain test, drawing Caracciola, Chiron, Nuvolari, Varzi and Stuck to a gravel road that still defines the pass. The outright record has stood since 5 August 1934, when Rudolf Caracciola took his 354 hp Mercedes-Benz W25 to the summit in 15:22.2 minutes at an average of 83.9 km/h. The cantons of Uri and Glarus have granted Klausen Historic GmbH basic authorisation for a permanent revival, with regularity classes on Saturday and a second timed run on Sunday.

A closed 21.5 km alpine pass with pre-war machinery is the rarest thing in European car culture, and the permit is the real news. Two-year cycle means the next chance is 2028.

Source · RM Sotheby's

A 2023 Ferrari Daytona SP3 with 227 miles on the odometer sold for 17,825,000 dollars at RM Sotheby's Monterey on 14 August 2026. That beat the low end of its 10 to 12 million dollar estimate by 78 percent and set a public auction record for a series-production SP3.

Lot 223 came from The Driver's Philosophy Collection, finished in Giallo Triplo Strato with Nero stripes, one of 600 cars in Ferrari's Icona series. The 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 makes 829 hp, essentially the LaFerrari engine without the hybrid system, good for 0 to 62 mph in 2.85 seconds and 211 mph. The car was configured through Ferrari's Atelier programme, completed in July 2023, delivered to a Florida owner in January 2024 and changed hands again in October 2025 at roughly 220 miles. Only one SP3 has ever sold for more, and that was a bespoke charity car.

Delivery-mile modern Ferraris are now clearing the price of most historic race cars. That says more about where new money is entering the market than about the car itself.

795 HP. No Roof. Mustang Goes Nuclear.

Ford revealed the Mustang Dark Horse SC Convertible on 14 August at the Woodward Dream Cruise. The supercharged 5.2-litre V8 makes 795 hp and 895 Nm through a seven-speed dual-clutch to the rear wheels. It is the most powerful open-top Mustang ever built, and Ford's first high-performance Mustang drop-top in 13 years.

Power matches the Dark Horse SC coupe and sits just 20 hp below the $300,000-plus Mustang GTD, which uses the same cross-plane-crank supercharged V8. The convertible rides on the Mustang GT convertible platform with a magnesium tower-to-tower brace for rigidity, plus MagneRide dampers at all four corners with unique springs and anti-roll bars. Chief engineer Arie Groeneveld says it was tuned as a top-down grand tourer, not for lap times. Detail changes include an extended hood-vent fin to suit the soft top's aero, revised rear wing stanchions without gurney flaps, and a colour-shifting Precision Purple paint. The coupe starts at $108,085 including destination; convertible pricing follows later this year, with orders opening in the fall and deliveries in spring 2027.

A 795 hp V8 convertible at roughly a third of GTD money, aimed straight at European grand tourers costing twice as much.

RUF Ehra. 650 HP. 7-Speed Manual.

RUF Ehra. 650 HP. 7-Speed Manual.
Source · Motor1

RUF revealed the Ehra on 14 August 2026. A 3.6-litre twin-turbo boxer-six makes 650 hp and 900 Nm, driving all four wheels through a seven-speed manual transaxle. Zero to 60 mph takes 3.2 seconds, with a reported 340 km/h top speed.

The name comes from Ehra-Lessien, the proving ground where the CTR Yellowbird ran 211 mph in 1987. It looks like an air-cooled 911 but shares nothing with one: RUF builds it on its own carbon-fibre monocoque, with bespoke front and rear fascias, a carbon rear spoiler and centre-lock magnesium five-spoke wheels. Reported curb weight is around 1,325 kg. Double-wishbone suspension with horizontal dampers is tuned for grand touring rather than track work, with six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers. Inside there are folding carbon buckets, titanium trim, green RUF analogue gauges and Pasha-checked leather. Pricing and production volume have not been announced.

RUF calls this its first grand tourer, and the seven-speed manual with variable all-wheel drive has no equivalent anywhere in the current Porsche range.

Sanremo Storico. Oct 15-17. Since 1928.

The 41st Sanremo Rally Storico runs 15-17 October 2026 as a round of the FIA European Historic Rally Championship. It sits inside a five-day motorsport week, 14-18 October, alongside the 73rd Rallye di Sanremo, the 40th Coppa dei Fiori and the 27th Rally delle Palme. Last year's edition covered 123 km across 11 special stages in the Imperia hinterland.

Organiser is the Automobile Club del Ponente Ligure, which has run the event since the first Rallye di Sanremo in 1928. The historic rally is one of only a handful of Italian rounds counting for the FIA EHRC, so entries come from across Europe. Stages climb from sea level into the Ligurian Alps behind Sanremo, on the same passes that hosted the World Rally Championship round from 1973 to 2003 and made names for the Lancia Stratos, the 037 and the Delta. The 2025 running started 40 crews in the historic classification and 26 saw the finish, with close to 250 entries across all concurrent events. The modern 73rd Rallye di Sanremo follows on 16-18 October. Watching from the stages and the town sections is free.

Mid-October is the last usable window before the high Alpine passes start closing, and Sanremo lets you drive a proper mountain road in the morning and be at the coast by lunch.

Bonhams sells the Keller Collection at the Zoute Sale in Knokke-Heist on 11 October 2026: 12 cars, every one without reserve. A 1970 Lamborghini leads at EUR 1.6-2 million, with a 1989 Countach 25th Anniversary at EUR 500,000-600,000 behind it.

Swiss collector Christian Keller built the group with his brother over decades and is selling after his brother's death. The lead car, chassis P400-4578, was delivered new to Switzerland in 1970 through Garage Foitek in Zurich and is believed to have been bought by Grand Prix driver Emmanuel 'Toulo' de Graffenried. It left Sant'Agata in Arancio and now wears Giallo Fly over its original Nero leather, and it has stayed in Switzerland ever since, almost never shown in public. A condition report written by former Lamborghini test driver Valentino Balboni in December 2014 comes with the car. The Countach shows 23,084 km and is one of 657 built. A 1974 Dino 246 GT at EUR 240,000-280,000 and a 1977 Ferrari 512 BB at EUR 130,000-160,000 round out the Italian side.

Twelve seven- and six-figure cars with no reserve is a rare public test of where the blue-chip European market actually sits rather than where estimates say it should.

641 HP. 250 Cars. Toyota Says No.

Toyota will deliberately build fewer GR GT supercars than the market wants. The US gets 200 to 250 cars, buyers must pass a vetting process, and prices start above 220,000 dollars — the most expensive Toyota ever sold.

The GR GT is Gazoo Racing's halo car: front-engined, two-seat, rear-drive, on Toyota's first all-aluminium body frame, with a new 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 and a hybrid motor built into the transaxle for 641 hp and 850 Nm through an eight-speed automatic. More than 150 buyers had already spec'd cars before order books opened, and Toyota also corrected earlier reports that the first allocation had sold out. Senior VP Andrew Gilleland put the scarcity plainly: they will not have enough to meet demand, and that is by design, because they do not want to sell to flippers. Deliveries start in 2027 through Lexus dealers in the US and Gazoo Racing outlets in Japan.

A mainstream Japanese OEM rationing a six-figure driver's GT by intent, not price.

Boreham Motorworks has finalised its Mk1 Ford Escort RS, a ground-up continuation built under licence from Ford. A bespoke 2.15-litre four makes 325 bhp and revs to 10,000 rpm. From 895 kg. 354,000 pounds. 150 cars.

This is not a restomod. The structure, chassis and powertrain are new, and the front axle has moved 30 mm forward to copy Alan Mann Racing touring car geometry. The engine alone weighs 85 kg, and the redesigned live rear axle with its Quaife LSD saves another 40 kg. Ford Heritage director John Mitchell, who worked on the original Escort RS models and the Sierra Cosworth, ran the engineering; designer Wayne Burgess came from Aston Martin. Only 10 cars are built in 2027, first deliveries early that year, and an RS200 Group B continuation is already confirmed as the next project.

Sub-tonne, 10,000 rpm, Ferrari money — the analogue counter-argument.

1,100 KM. 300 Crews. Nuvolari.

The 36th Gran Premio Nuvolari runs 17 to 20 September, starting and finishing in Mantova. Three hundred crews in cars built 1919 to 2000 cover roughly 1,100 km in three stages, with 100 timed trials and 10 average-speed trials.

The route crosses Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany, Umbria, the Marche and San Marino, taking in the Mugello, Imola and Magione circuits plus city circuits at Carpi, Forli and Lugo di Romagna. The event traces back to Nuvolari's death in August 1953, after which the Mille Miglia organisers rerouted their race through Mantova and created a Nuvolari Grand Prix for the fastest driver across the Po Valley. Four historic editions ran between 1954 and 1957 before Scuderia Mantova Corse revived it as an international regularity rally in 1991. It now counts toward the Italian Classic Regularity Championship and sits alongside the Mille Miglia at the top of the Italian historic calendar. A separate field of 35 modern supercars runs the same roads. Entries closed on 31 July.

Bonhams offers a 1929 Bugatti Type 35C Grand Prix two-seater, chassis 4930, at Goodwood Revival on 19 September. The estimate is 500,000 to 700,000 pounds — and the car is consigned without reserve.

The Type 35C is the supercharged Grand Prix Bugatti: a 2.0-litre straight-eight with a Roots blower and around 128 bhp, introduced in 1926 despite Ettore Bugatti's known dislike of forced induction. Roughly 45 left Molsheim, making it one of the rarer members of a Type 35 family that won over 1,000 races and took the Targa Florio five years running from 1925 to 1929. What makes this lot unusual is the terms — a seven-figure-capable pre-war racing car with no floor under it is rare at this level, and it turns the sale into a live read on where the pre-war market actually sits. The car comes from The Connoisseurs Collection Part IV, and 2026 is the first year Bonhams has merged its Festival of Speed and Revival auctions into one September catalogue.

No reserve on a pre-war GP Bugatti is a real market test.

1,341 HP EV. Cancelled. Lanzador Pivots.

Lamborghini has confirmed the Lanzador, its fourth model line due in 2028, will launch as a plug-in hybrid instead of the 1,341 hp twin-motor EV shown in 2023. CEO Stephan Winkelmann says the switch, decided in February 2026, was very well accepted by customers.

The Lanzador concept was a 2+2 Ultra GT with a motor on each axle and peak output above one megawatt, slotted between the Urus and the super sports cars. Sant'Agata reversed course this year after luxury EV demand grew far slower than planned, and will now fit a combustion engine working with electric motors. It is not yet confirmed whether it gets the through-the-road hybrid layout of the Revuelto and Temerario or a version of the Urus SE's electrified 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, which makes 801 hp in Performante form. Winkelmann says demand for the hybrid is already stronger than it ever was for the EV.

Lamborghini is doing openly what Porsche has been doing under pressure: retreating from a fully electric halo product because the high-end EV buyer never showed up. For drivers it means the fourth Sant'Agata model line arrives with an engine, and the plug-in hybrid becomes the default architecture rather than a bridge.

The Czech-built Praga Bohema lapped Spa-Francorchamps in 2:21.42 on its standard road-legal tyres, beating the Pagani Huayra Roadster BC's six-year-old 2:23.08 benchmark by over 1.5 seconds. The run happened on a public customer track day with no special preparation.

Factory test driver Ales Jirasek was at Spa to accompany customers, not to chase a time. The Bohema uses a 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 making 690 hp and 535 lb-ft in a carbon chassis under 1,000 kg, with 900 kg of downforce at 250 km/h. The time is quicker than the McLaren Senna's 2:24.82 and inside both the Formula 4 and Radical Cup circuit records. There is onboard video but no independent timing sheet, so it is a claim rather than a homologated record.

A road-legal customer car on road tyres running to single-seater pace reframes what a small-volume European maker can deliver. Praga builds just 89 Bohemas from EUR 1.28 million net.

RM Sotheby's will offer Ayrton Senna's personal 1991 Honda NSX in London on 31 October 2026 with an estimate of GBP 500,000 to 800,000. Chassis T000233 is the Formula Red car from the famous photograph of Senna washing it with a garden hose at Quinta do Lago.

Honda gave Senna access to three NSXs in 1991, two black and this red one, kept in Lisbon and delivered whenever he flew into Portugal. He drove it to Estoril for the 1991 Portuguese Grand Prix, where he qualified third and finished second behind Riccardo Patrese. After his death at Imola in 1994 the car stayed in Portugal, passed through several owners, returned to Imola in 2019 for the 25th anniversary and was bought by the current owner in Nagoya in 2024. It comes with its warranty book, Portuguese ownership records and the Honda fax confirming the link.

A standard early NSX trades in the low six figures, so the estimate prices Senna's name at roughly five to ten times the car's intrinsic value. A clean test of whether driver provenance still carries a premium after the selective results of the 2026 season.
