The 44th Mille Miglia departs Brescia today with 400+ pre-war machines — the living museum is on the road. SSR's Project Leo twins the GT3 RS flat-six for 800hp and sub-7-minute Nordschleife ambitions, no electrification, no compromise. RUF Tribute deliveries are rolling — air-cooled, manual, final. The Aston V12 Vanquish Volante is finally real and heading for Quail. And Pagani's gold Utopia keeps doing Pagani's PR better than any press office ever could.

Mille Miglia Rolls. Today. 400 Cars.

The 44th edition departs Brescia this morning — 400+ pre-war machines on a figure-eight through mountain passes, art cities, and every Italian road worth dreaming about.

Over 400 crews from 29 nations start June 9 and finish June 13 threading the Cavallo Pass, Lake Garda, Padua, Rome, and Rimini; 77 entered cars hold pedigree from the original 1927–1957 speed races, and Andrea Vesco in a 1929 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 SS is chasing a seventh consecutive win. r/classiccars called it 'a moving cathedral'; Pistonheads' thread is mostly people arguing whether Vesco is now too dominant to watch.

The 1000 Miglia 2026 is the 44th edition of the historic re-enactment, running June 9–13 on a figure-eight route recalling the race's earliest editions. Over 400 classic cars from 29 nations depart Brescia today, with 77 holding documented 'participant' status — meaning they raced in the original 1000 Miglia between 1927 and 1957. Italy leads with 225 drivers and co-drivers; Alfa Romeo leads all marques with 49 entries, followed by Fiat, Ferrari, Lancia, Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz, and Porsche. The 2026 route honours the 500th anniversary of the Pietro Beretta arms factory, threading through Gardone Val Trompia. Andrea Vesco and Fabio Salvinelli, defending champions for six consecutive years, start favourites in their 1929 Alfa 6C 1750 SS. Stage three runs through the Abetone Pass on Wednesday; stage four traces Rome to Rimini via Assisi and the Furlo Gorge on Friday. The final day, June 13, returns via Mantua to Viale Venezia in Brescia. Giancarlo Fisichella is behind the wheel of a 1954 S.I.A.T.A 30 BC; motorcycle legend Loris Capirossi pilots a 1949 Lancia Aprilia. Enzo Ferrari called this 'the most beautiful race in the world.' In 2026, the depth of the field makes that description an understatement.

Aston's V12 Volante. 835 PS. Open Top.

The Vanquish Volante is Aston's most powerful open-top production car ever — 835 PS, V12, and almost certainly the last of its kind before electrification rewrites the script.

The Vanquish Volante uses Aston's 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12 at 835 PS and 1,000 Nm, with first deliveries targeting Q3 2025 and the car positioned as a limited-run halo alongside the coupe; pricing starts above €330,000 and marks the 60th anniversary of the Volante name. Pistonheads greeted the reveal with undisguised affection — 'the correct answer to a question nobody asked nicely enough' was the forum's prevailing tone; a handful noted this is almost certainly the last V12 Aston open-top, which only sharpened the appetite.

The Aston Martin Vanquish Volante is the convertible companion to the Vanquish coupe — and the fastest, most powerful open-top series-production Aston Martin ever built. The 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12 produces 835 PS and a flat 1,000 Nm of torque, good for a 214 mph top speed. The folding hood mechanism is derived from the previous Vanquish Volante but re-engineered for the new platform. Aston Martin framed the car's arrival as a celebration of 60 years of the Volante nameplate — an unbroken line from the 1966 DB6 Volante. Production is limited, with first deliveries confirmed for Q3 2025 and the order book reportedly well subscribed. At roughly €330,000–370,000 in European markets before options, it sits in direct competition with the Ferrari 12Cilindri Spider and the McLaren 750S Spider — though both those cars use V8s. The Volante is emphatically the last word in naturally-large-displacement, open-roof British GT motoring. Given Aston Martin's confirmed electrification roadmap, the question of whether another V12 Volante follows is very much open — which is precisely why the waiting list for this one is not getting shorter.

Gold Pagani. Huayra Eyes. Someone's Lucky.

A one-off gold Utopia with Huayra R headlights was spotted pre-delivery — because standard Utopia headlights are apparently not bespoke enough for this particular client.

Single-tone gold exterior, minimal exposed carbon, and unique Huayra R-style headlights replacing the glass-cased dual LED projectors; mechanically stock at 864 hp and 811 lb-ft from the hand-built AMG 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12, with H-pattern manual or automated manual available. The r/supercars thread noted the headlight swap makes this feel like a genuine one-off rather than a colour spec — 'the kind of personalisation that makes Pagani's waiting list psychologically survivable,' as one poster put it — while Ferrarichat simply asked for the owner's name and phone number.

Pagani's Grandi Complicazioni atelier continues to produce Utopia variants that go well beyond configuration sheet territory. This example — spotted ahead of customer delivery — borrows the Huayra R's headlight aesthetic: body-coloured housings with exposed projectors replacing the Utopia's standard glass-cased dual LED units. The gold single-tone exterior with minimal carbon creates an unusually restrained visual presence for a car making 864 hp from a hand-assembled Mercedes-AMG M158 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12. The Xtrac 7-speed transverse gearbox is available in both automated-manual and pure H-pattern manual configurations. The Utopia platform uses a Carbo-Titanium and Carbo-Triax HP62 monocoque, weighs around 1,280 kg dry, and starts above €3.4M before Grandi Complicazioni personalisation work. Each build is a direct client dialogue — no catalogue limits apply. Pagani builds roughly 40 cars per year across all variants. The most recent high-profile Huayra variant, the Codalunga Speedster, debuted in 2025 with 10 units and a gated manual option. The Utopia is now the brand's core model and these pre-delivery sightings function as Pagani's most effective marketing channel — quietly, impeccably, and without a single press release.
